Where the numbers come from

Ledger prices most Board calls and Exchange prints from public feeds. A few numbers are not read from a feed, and this page names them. None of this is a contracted license to republish those feeds.

Float only. Every trade on this desk is in Float. It is not brokerage, not advice, and not a cash market. Settlement rules live on the methodology page, printed from the same code the product uses.

Sports

ESPN public JSON: scoreboards, summaries, teams, rosters, standings. Image CDN at a.espncdn.com. We do not scrape HTML. A timeout or a non-200 is an empty list. The Board falls back to the last good slate, then to a quiet shelf.

We can pause the sports feed. While it is paused, Ledger asks ESPN for nothing and the Board shows the last good slate or an empty shelf. Nothing is priced from a guess in its place.

Quotes

Exchange prints read Yahoo Finance charts (unofficial, delayed, labelled delayed), Coinbase Exchange public candles, Kraken public books where the live book is on, and CoinGecko as a crypto fallback. A miss hides the shelf.

Simple trades fill at the quoted price, with no fee and no spread. Advanced trades fill against an order book, so they cross the spread, and they pay a 0.10% fee in Float. A coin’s book is live from Coinbase or Kraken when the live book is on. Every stock book, and any coin book without a live feed, is simulated from the last price and labelled “Simulated book”.

We can pause quotes and the live book separately. With quotes paused, the Exchange shows no price and no chart. With the live book paused, Advanced shows the simulated book, labelled as such.

Likenesses

Team and athlete marks come from ESPN, Yahoo Sports, TheSportsDB, and Wikimedia Commons. Coin marks from CoinGecko. Company marks from Financial Modeling Prep, then Wikidata. Same-origin proxy at /api/img, allow-listed. Each of these sources can be paused, and a paused one shows no mark rather than a stand-in.

Culture and macro

Culture thumbnails from Wikipedia. Macro settlement reads named public records (FRED, BLS, EIA, Treasury, CDC, and other public agencies). Open-Meteo is named on weather cards. We can pause the culture markets; while they are paused, the culture shelf is empty.

Culture and world markets have no public price feed, so a language model sets their prices. If a generation fails, the shelf falls back to house-written markets with fixed prices. They still settle only against the public record.

A Board market with no live result source settles on a simulated roll. It is labelled “Simulated result”, and it moves no Standing.

What we will not do

We will not present a simulated number as if it came from a feed. We will not treat any of these hosts as a contracted feed. If one becomes load-bearing at scale, we will buy a licensed feed instead.

Make one call. Keep the record.

Free to play. 18+. No real money.
