The Morning Line
Five prices in four formats. Put them in order from most to least likely. Four tries, no clock.
Every morning there is a new set of five prices, each written in one of four formats: American, decimal, fractional, or what 100 returns. Put them in order from most to least likely. Each try marks the ones in the right place and points the rest higher or lower. Four tries, no clock.
Setting this morning’s puzzle…
Why a price puzzle
A price is a chance written in a particular format, and some formats make a longshot look closer than it is. Once you can read through the format, you can see what any book is asking for. The prices in this puzzle are invented. The arithmetic is real, and every puzzle grades on the implied chance of each price exactly as written.
The Morning Line is Float only, and Standing is not affected here. Standing only moves on real calls that reality grades, on the Board. Inside the app, solving the puzzle pays a little Float, once a day. Here it pays nothing, because there is nothing to pay with.
Scout’s notebook
Puzzles you solve open chapters of Scout’s notebook, the story of how Ledger came to be. Chapters open on the total number of puzzles you have solved, not on an unbroken run, so a missed morning never closes one. Your record stays on this device.
